A Little Perspective

A Little Perspective
Let me teach you.
When you are tense, let me teach you to relax.
When you are short tempered, let me teach you to be patient.
When you are short sighted, let me teach you to see.
When you are quick to react, let me teach you to be thoughtful.
When you are angry, let me teach you to be serene.
When you feel superior, let me teach you to be respectful.
When you are self-absorbed, let me teach you to think of greater things.
When you are arrogant, let me teach you humility.
When you are lonely, let me be your companion.
When you are tired, let me carry the load.
When you need to learn, let me teach you.
After all, I am your horse.

  2. Even though the only pet I currently own is a dog, this might be the best blog I have ever come across! I am a big fan of horses. I grew up with Foxtrotters and Quarter horses and am dying to be back in the saddle again. My husband says we already own a horse (see blog), but she isn't the same. I am excited to get to know you and you're adventures. Stop by and meet my Africa sometime! I am adding you to my blog list.

  3. What a beautiful poem. I think that living with animals is the best education anyone can have.

  4. I'd add one line:

"when I am hungry, let me show you where she keeps the carrots"

    :)

  5. Leah--They do that don't they? I am learning so much from Jacks....definitely is humbling.

Kasha-Thanks for the compliment, I will check out your blog...I love Africa!

Karen-Funny, growing up on our farm I took it for granted and hated living so far out in the country. Now, that is ALL i really want in life! :)

Winter--LOL! Definitely needs to be added!!!!

    Thanks for the comments!

  6. Mindy, you are so sweet. That was a great poem. My sister just got back from a mini pack trip in New Mexico. She thought they would be riding horses, but instead they rode mules! I was really jealous that I couldn't go since I just had a baby, but it made me feel a little less jealous since they weren't in fact horses. Give your beautiful horse a pat for me and thanks for adding me to your blog!

  8. Kasha--My friend Linda has a Missouri Foxtrotter! Check out my posts with her riding her red horse--named, well, Red. I always tease her about her unoriginal names!!! ;)

  9. I love this one. Have you ever read the "real" interpretation to this poem?
